Trauma-Informed Permanency Planning Practices in Child Welfare: Translating Concepts into Concrete Applications

This highly experiential training provides child welfare social workers and supervisors with specific, concrete trauma-informed strategies that can be utilized throughout the Ongoing and Permanency Planning phases of their practice.

After attending this training, participants will be able to:

• Define and describe trauma and its effects on children.
• Identify at least three trauma-informed strategies that they can utilize in their work with children and families during the Permanency Planning phase.
• Describe how trauma-informed resources and strategies infuse with other strategic practices, such as Safety Organized Practice and Child and Family Team Meetings.

In addition, this training will address secondary traumatic stress in the workforce and highlight the importance of maintaining both physical and psychological safety.
