Tools for Supervisory Excellence Series

Tools for Supervisory Excellence is a comprehensive professional development program designed to provide leadership development, skill building and networking opportunities for child welfare supervisors. This program is grounded in the leadership behaviors of the Integrated Core Practice Model (ICPM) and incorporates the latest research and best practice approaches to support child welfare leaders. This 5-month cohort-based program includes:

Cultural Consensus Approach: Participants determine the training content and competencies that will benefit their own professional development.
Learning Labs: These take place in two-day sessions offered approximately every 4 weeks.
360-degree Evaluation: Participants complete a 360-degree evaluation to assess strengths and areas for continuing professional development.
Coaching: Each participant will be assigned a coach to help them apply what they are learning in the program.

Because participants complete the series as a cohort, it is vital that participants commit to attending all sessions.

Marc Manashil

Marc Manashil, M.P.A., M.S.W., is a consultant and educator specializing in collaboration and leadership development. A social worker by training, Manashil spent his early career working in the international philanthropy arena, serving as longtime director of a foundation that organizes global donor circles. Manashil was inspired by the adaptive leadership framework while pursuing his MPA at the Harvard Kennedy School and has since facilitated hundreds of adaptive leadership classes and programs throughout the nonprofit and public sectors. Manashil is an Adjunct Assistant Professor and Co-Founder of the Adaptive Leadership in Human Services Institute at NYU’s Silver School of Social Work and is Principal of CoInnovate Consulting, which provides leadership training and conflict transformation support to organizations and communities worldwide.

Kathy Maes

Kathy Maes, M.S., retired as the director of the Lake County Department of Social Services in 2017.  She has over 30 years of experience in child welfare services and served for 16 years as child welfare director. Maes has practice and leadership experience in all child welfare programs and was an early implementer of Safety Organized Practice (SOP). She uses that experience to provide leadership coaching and training to child welfare supervisors, managers and administrators with a focus on SOP and Core Practice Model/Integrated Core Practice Model.

Noel Landuyt

Beth Cohen

Beth Cohen, Ph.D., is the administrator of the Organizational Mind Group PC, a professional consultative business focused on building individual and organizational health and well-being. Cohen utilizes her many years of expertise in organizational and individual well-being to assess needs, design interventions, develop programs and train leadership, management and staff in both private and public sectors. She is a professional threat assessor, primary and secondary trauma and violence prevention expert, national speaker and certified meditation instructor with postgraduate studies in organizational neuroscience. In addition, Cohen has an extensive background in human resources, occupational health, emergency response, and risk management. She works with health and human services organizations across the nation as a consultant, facilitator and trainer. She also designs and implements post-trauma responses after traumatic events including disasters, child deaths, mass murder and terrorism.

Tricia Mosher

Tricia Mosher, LCSW, M.S.W., has more than 25 years of experience in social work, child welfare and organizational development practice. She has served as a training director in child welfare in Maine and Florida, in both public and privatized systems. Currently an independent consultant, Mosher travels nationally to do coaching, quality review and training to promote inclusive practice in child welfare. Most recently, projects have included training, development and coaching in the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute's Leadership Academy; organizational effectiveness facilitation in the APHSA model; interventions to support case practice in New Jersey's Child Welfare System; and development of curriculum for professional parents and staff in multiple state and private agencies.

Laurie Ellington

Laurie Ellington M.A., LPC, MCC, HMCT, RYT, NBC-HWC, is the co-founder of the Integrative NeuroSomatic® Self-Mastery experience. Her organization combines ancient teachings with findings from modern neuroscience, mind-body research, stress resilience and mindfulness. She helps individuals, teams and organizations elevate how they think, feel and show up for themselves. Ellington's mission is to expand consciousness, turn trauma into healing, and transform the world with kindness and compassion. She has over 25 years of experience in coaching, consulting, leadership and mind-body medicine. She is a licensed professional counselor, master certified coach, registered yoga teacher and national board-certified health and wellness coach. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Mind-Body Medicine at Saybrook University.
