Level of Care Protocol Training for Trainers

*Pre-requisite: all participants must have completed the Level of Care Protocol course and/or be adept at using the LOC Protocol/Matrix. This is not a training on the LOCP, but is designed for those wishing to teach/instruct/coach others to complete the LOC Protocol.

This Training for Trainers will prepare participants with the tools needed to deliver the Level of Care Protocol one-day training. The Level of Care (LOC) Protocol has been developed for use by county child welfare and probation placement workers, and using five domains (Physical, Behavioral/Emotional, Health, Educational and Permanency/Family Services Domain), separately scored, is designed to promote best practices in meeting the individual needs of children/youth in the foster care system. Participants will receive materials to guide the training and technical support for social workers in their implementation of the Level of Care Matrix, including a PowerPoint presentation, trainer notes, vignettes and activities for practice, resources and a review of the considerations counties may want to make when implementing this tool.

Upon completion of the Training for Trainers, participants will be able to

  • Identify the available materials and resources to use in the completion of the LOCP training
  • Use the Training materials to provide instruction on the implementation of the LOC Protocol
