Housing Support Program (HSP) Boot Camp

This 5-day boot camp provides case management staff with knowledge, skills, tools, best practices and resources to successfully serve agencies, programs and clients in achieving greater outcomes with housing stability. The boot camp is comprised of the following sessions:

Day 1: Introduction to the Housing Support Program (HSP)

  • HSP Overview
  • Housing First Model
  • Core components of Rapid Re-Housing (RRH)
  • Program Compliance

Day 2: HSP Eligibility and Available Services

  • HSP Eligibility
  • Definition of Homelessness
  • HSP Services
  • HSP Allowable Expenses

Day 3: Collaboration and Integration in the Homelessness Response System

  • Continuum of Care (CoC) and Coordinated Entry Systems (CES)
  • Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and Data reporting
  • Program prioritization
  • Program prioritization tools

Day 4: Housing Case Management

  • Housing case management – Strength based approach
  • Motivational coaching
  • Effective documentation
  • Time management in HSP
  • Fraud and Inappropriate use of funds

Day 5: Housing Navigation and Best Practices

  • Housing navigation
  • Housing workshops
  • Racial Equity
  • Best practices
  • Boot camp wrap-up

At the conclusion of this boot camp, participants will have a thorough understanding of:

  • Housing Support Program (HSP)
    • Eligibility
    • Case management
    • Allowable Services & Expenses
    • Effective documentation
  • The definition of homelessness for the purpose of HSP
  • Housing First
  • Rapid Rehousing (RRH)
  • How to reduce fraud in HSP

At the conclusion of this course, students will become familiar with the concepts of:

  • Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and Data reporting

Fee Details: The program enrollment fee is 0.30 training unit per person for those utilizing their county contract. If not using a county contract, the fee is $1275.00 per person. The fee for this 5-day program includes soft copy materials.

Training Format: This program will be offered via remote learning using Zoom. Login information will be provided after your enrollment is processed.

Enrollment closes on 2/25/25.

Those paying by check or with credit card, please have payment to us no later than two weeks prior to start of class.

To be officially dropped from the class, please notify us at least 10 business days prior to the training start date to drop a class and cancel the billing, or request a refund of fees paid, less a $30 processing fee (no exceptions). Substitutions can be done with a 48-hour minimum notice prior to the training start date. A 48-hour notice is needed to get all updated information processed.
