CWS Clerical Training: Referral Intake (Virtual Training)

This course introduces students to basic referral intake and client management.

After attending this training, participants will be able to perform the following functions within CWS/CMS:

Creating and entering a referral in CWS
Searching, attaching, and creating a new client
Entering allegations
Creating a suspected child abuse form, screener narrative document, and emergency response document
Entering response time

Participants will learn basic skills needed to do their assigned job duties in CWS/CMS.

Tomas Loarca, M.S.W., has worked as a California child welfare social worker for 10 years. His experience spanned from front-end prevention to adoptions/permanency. Loarca worked to build collaborative relationships with community organizations that resulted in a reduction of local child welfare intervention. Loarca has been an instructor for UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education for over 5 years. He specializes in CWS/CMS, SDM, SafeMeasures, CANS, SOP, team facilitation and other child welfare subject areas.
