Celebrating a Year of Exponential Growth and Accelerated Impact
Fiscal year 2024–2025 was a year of momentum, growth and deepened impact for Human Services at UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education. Across California, our colleagues and community partners continued to navigate increasingly complex challenges while exploring innovative and collaborative approaches to workforce development. In response, our teams expanded services, strengthened partnerships and delivered high-quality training, technical assistance and evaluation support to meet evolving needs.
Throughout the year, we advanced statewide initiatives, hosted impactful convenings and supported professionals across human services. From large-scale institutes and conferences to targeted coaching and customized training, our work reflected a shared commitment to championing lived experience, evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement.
We also marked a significant milestone with the first year of the California Title IV-E Education Program, paving promising pathways for the next generation of the human services workforce.

Alongside this growth, we prepared for the launch of the Adult Protective Services Northern Academy—which officially began in July 2025—and we continued to invest in our existing programs and welcomed new staff, building internal capacity and strengthening cross-team collaboration so we can better serve California’s communities.
At the heart of this work remains our focus on people. We believe that modeling care, responsiveness and partnership within our own organization strengthens our ability to support you in your roles. By listening closely to your needs, we strive to deliver services that are practical, meaningful and aligned with the very best practice.
We are deeply grateful for the dedication of California’s human services professionals and leaders, and for the trust you place in UC Davis Human Services as a partner in this work. Together, we are building systems that better support children, adults, families and communities across the state.

Research and Evaluation
During 2024-2025, the Research and Evaluation team supported five counties through their California Child and Family Services Review (C-CFSR). The team also supported the Northern Academy in developing a logic model for its coaching services, which will be used to guide program evaluation and improvements.
In addition, the team completed a comprehensive redesign of California’s National Core Indicator (NCI) dashboards, which give users access to all statewide NCI data. The new design incorporates user-friendly features such as simple navigation and a comprehensive search function.
One of the team’s larger accomplishments this year was developing the California Provider Capacity Survey, an integral part of the state’s quality assurance process for disability services. In prior years, the state administered a 100+ question survey focused on direct support professionals. Our team identified the essential elements of that survey and created a new, concise instrument that is inclusive of the broader disability services workforce. We held listening sessions with vendors to gather feedback on survey development, coded the survey in Qualtrics and integrated a semi-automated help desk ticketing system to enable faster identification and resolution of issues.
