  • About the webinar and registration
  • Join us for a webinar focused on the integration of tribal engagement within California’s Child and Family Team (CFT) practice. This session will explore best practices outlined in the 2024 CFT Tribal Engagement Guide, which highlights the essential role of culturally responsive, trauma-informed practices for Indian children, families and Tribes. Participants will learn about the legal requirements of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) in the CFT process, strategies for fostering collaboration between child welfare services and tribal governments, and methods for supporting cultural connections for children and families.

In collaboration with CDSS and CTFC, representatives from the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, alongside child welfare staff from San Diego and Riverside Counties, will share their practice experiences in developing a partnership with Tribes to enhance their CFT process. They will discuss how they integrate best practices in their child and family teaming and CFT meetings, ensuring compliance with the legal mandates of the ICWA.

We highly recommend this event to professionals involved in facilitating or coordinating CFT meetings, including county child welfare practitioners, contracted providers, system of care professionals and tribal representatives. This event is designed for those who want to understand legal requirements and best practices for tribal engagement in CFTs and CFT meetings, and aim to enhance equitable outcomes for tribal children and families. You won’t want to miss this!

  • About the webinar and registration
  • California’s Integrated Core Practice Model Guide (ICPM) is a unique resource, supported and approved by all state departments in the California Children and Youth System of Care (SOC), to support integrated, Whole Child service design and delivery, and is a required focus area within each local System of Care Memorandum of Understanding.

This webinar is the first of a two-part series to introduce the recently revised ICPM and updated Integrated Training Guide (ITG) to county local SOC Interagency Leadership Team (ILT) members and other county members who support the local children and youth SOC at the practice level.  These webinars will briefly review the development of the updated ICPM and ITG, review the critical practice behaviors for leaders, and provide context for implementation for the field.

The ICPM assists in the creation of culturally appropriate and trauma-informed Systems of Care and provides essential guidance for interagency teams to support the engagement, assessment and care management processes for successful whole child, youth, and family care.
