Human services professionals frequently experience emotional stress as a result of the nature of their work. One of the types of stress often experienced is secondary traumatic stress (STS), which is a normal human and universal response to abnormal events. However, serious and harmful side effects of STS can be avoided if symptoms are recognized and strategies are employed to decrease stress levels.
The purpose of the Workplace Wellness Exchange is to provide information on health and well-being, share information, discuss strategies and explore frameworks related to health and well-being in human services. Participants will be provided with opportunities to share meaningful ideas and best practices.
This is a two-day exchange, and participants have the opportunity to enroll in one or both days of the event. Day one is all about self-care for the individual, while day two will focus on the health of the organization and how to promote well-being as a culture.
