About the Program

We empower human services professionals by providing them with the knowledge, skills and resources to support those most in need in their communities.

The Management Development Program (MDP) 2.0 continues to advance this mission. The new program builds on the principles, theories, models and tools from our original MDP developed in 2011. The MDP 2.0 is designed to engage managers of human services agencies in a professional development opportunity that introduces current research, models and frameworks from the field of management. The UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education Human Services team has created an “Effective Management Framework for Human Services” and has developed courses that will support managers in advancing their skills in the following areas:

  • Results management
  • People management
  • Employee and organizational engagement
  • Exercising organizational and community influence
  • Managing change

Ultimately, managers will learn about how to create and maintain a culture of accountability and continuous quality improvement that will lead to results that drive positive outcomes for the children, adults and families served by the human services agencies.
