The Space Between Us: The Science of Co-Regulation and Human Connection (AM)
Human beings are not closed systems. We are continuously perceiving and responding to one another. A tone of voice, facial expression, pace of conversation or the experience of being seen and understood can influence what happens in the nervous system, often before we are consciously aware of it.
In this experiential training, participants will explore the science of co-regulation, psychological safety and human connection, and how our interactions can either amplify threat or help create the conditions for greater safety, trust and capacity.
Participants will explore how trauma can shape the way people perceive interpersonal cues, respond to authority, experience choice and control, and navigate relationships. We will also turn the lens toward ourselves, exploring how our own nervous system enters every interaction and why presence, curiosity, predictability, boundaries and repair matter.
Through science, reflection, and practical exercises, participants will explore a fundamental principle of trauma-informed work: sometimes the most powerful intervention isn't what we do for another person, but what becomes possible in the space between us.
