Mandated Reporting - Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse and Neglect in California (eLearning)

California law designates many professionals as mandated reporters of elder and dependent adult abuse. This course outlines reporting responsibilities and provides guidance on how, when and where to report suspected abuse or neglect. Participants will also learn what happens after a report is made and gain the tools necessary to confidently fulfill their reporting obligations.

After attending this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify obligations as a mandated reporter

  • Recognize signs of suspected abuse or neglect of elders or dependent adults as defined by California law

  • Determine how, when and where to report suspected abuse or neglect based on where it occurs

  • Describe what investigating agencies can and cannot do in response to a report
