Open to all peer partners!
This three-part skills-based series is designed for all peer partners who want to strengthen their ability to support youth and families experiencing substance use challenges, whether or not they are pursuing certification.
Serving as a companion to the Peer Certification Study Group, these sessions offer practical, real-world learning focused on key peer support practices such as recovery capital, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, cultural humility, documentation and ethical boundaries.
Learners will engage with certification-aligned materials while also expanding their confidence and skill through reflection, practice and peer dialogue.
By the end of the series, participants will be able to:
- Understand and build recovery capital in youth and family-serving systems
- Apply harm reduction and motivational interviewing tools in peer support settings
- Strengthen knowledge of ethical boundaries, cultural humility and peer documentation
- Gain valuable skills and insight relevant to all peer partner roles, and prepare for CalMHSA exam domains if pursuing certification
