Leading Through Digital Transformation

Technology in health and human services has rapidly evolved. For many leaders, this pace of change can feel overwhelming, leaving them to react rather than shape the future.

This interactive, gamified workshop empowers managers and executive leaders to lead technology initiatives strategically and confidently. Participants will explore the historical evolution of technology in human services, understand its impact on casework and communication and learn how to integrate modern tools to improve equity, access and service delivery.

Through various activities, such as case-based simulations and hands-on “Copilot Missions,” participants will practice transforming everyday tasks into streamlined, client-centered outputs. The workshop also addresses the leadership side of technology—how to foster innovation, set clear guardrails, manage resistance and ensure ethical and equitable implementation.

After completing this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Trace key milestones in the evolution of technology in health and human services and explain their impact on casework, communication and service delivery.
  • Evaluate the capabilities and limitations of Microsoft Copilot within Microsoft 365, including considerations for human judgment, privacy and ethical safeguards.
  • Identify common staff and client responses to technology change and analyze factors influencing adoption.
  • Assess equity and access implications of technology use in HHS and apply these insights to decision-making and implementation.
