Moving from a peer to a leader over your peers is one of the hardest transitions in a career — harder than learning the work itself. The skills that made someone a great coworker are not the skills that make them a good boss, and relationships that felt easy the week before can feel complicated overnight.
This full-day workshop names that shift directly. Participants will work through the real moments: the first hard conversation with a former lunch partner, deciding what to share and what to hold back; coaching someone who used to be an equal, and figuring out who they are as a leader now. A short activity follows every teaching block, and the day closes with a 30-day plan and a check-in partner.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Rebuild relationships honestly — set new boundaries with former peers without losing the trust that made them effective.
- Delegate and coach rather than rescue — hand over real decisions with the right support, instead of taking the work back.
- Have the hard conversation early — raise a performance or conduct concern clearly and kindly, before it hardens.
- Define their own leadership identity — name the supervisor they intend to be, and hold it under pressure.
