Division 31 Regulations

About this course

This course summarizes the requirements found in the California Child Welfare Services Policies and Procedures Manual (Division 31, Chapter 31-000 through 31-500), and illustrates how these basic requirements are the foundation for great child welfare social worker practice.

What will I learn in this training?

Participants will have the opportunity to build knowledge about the “what” and “why” of the regulations, and practice soft skills to serve families in a manner that is congruent with SOP and ICPM values to comply with the regulations.

After attending this training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and articulate the basic requirements of Child Welfare practice around answering the hotline, collecting information to best screen referrals, investigating referrals, assessing and developing case plans, managing placements and service delivery.
  • Have skills and tools to draw on to meet those expectations (eg. ICPM, SOP)
