Assistance Claims and the CA 800

This course provides Child Welfare and CalWORKs staff with a practical and detailed introduction to the CA 800 claim form. The session focuses on how to use and complete the CA 800 workbooks for reporting expenditures in Children's Services, and a general claiming overview for the CalWORKs Program. 

This course is designed for eligibility staff, program managers, fiscal staff including accounting, and supervisors, working in Child Welfare and CalWORKs programs. 

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify assistance programs and describe the purpose of CA 800 workbooks
  • Accurately complete the CA 800 template for Children's Services and/or CalWORKs Programs
  • Utilize key resources and information in completing the CA 800
  • Understand key terms and definitions
  • Understand the broader context and goal for Child Welfare and CalWORKs in providing financial support for children and needy families
  • Compare and contrast the claim process and policy requirements between CalWORKs and Child Welfare programs
  • Demonstrate a dedication to promote hope and opportunity for children, youth, and families in need of human services
