The framework for this activity is the ECHO All Teach, All Learn model, providing case-based learning in a forum where Subject Matter Experts, adult protection specialists and workers collaborate to learn about legal considerations regarding Adult Protective Services (APS) cases. Renowned attorney Paul Greenwood, who specializes in elder-abuse law, will provide a brief presentation covering Penal Code 368 (the elder-abuse statute), the criminal elements in typical cases of financial exploitation of older adults, competency issues, undue influence and engaging law enforcement and prosecutors. The bulk of the session will be facilitated case reviews of real, pre-selected elder financial abuse cases submitted by APS workers to gain guidance, resources and knowledge.
