SOP Quick Guide: Harm and Danger Statements

The new and improved Harm and Danger Statements Quick Guide is an excellent resource for understanding both the foundational elements and the practical application for Harm and Danger Statements (as well as Safety Goals) in the field. There has been an update to include guidance on how to use Intake Statements (formerly referred to as Provisional Statements), including a new formula for Danger Statements used at the intake/hotline level.

Additional SOP Quick Guides

The SOP Toolkit has every Quick Guide housed in one easy-to-access folder.

Stories from the Field

Three Siblings and the Three Houses in Tuolumne County

A sample of the Three Houses tool used in the field

SOP: Stories from the Field Contest winner Houa Xiong describes how the Three Houses tool helped three siblings achieve permanency in Tuolumne County.

"A sibling set of three, aged between 5-8, was able to freely share their dreams to the Court in regards to what they wanted for their future at the family reunification and post permanency hearings through the use of the three houses.

In their individual house of dreams, the children articulated through writing and drawings of who they wanted to live with them and what they wanted their homes to look like. Their drawings showed that they wanted to stay together with their foster parents. In addition, the three houses tool helped the 8 year old share for the first time since being in care at the age of 5, what his concerns were and helped reduced his feelings of guilt in sharing the concerns that he had with the Court. The sibling set was ultimately adopted."
