This course reviews the best legal practices and CWS/CMS approaches to preparing petitions. It provides guidance for participants to integrate legal strategies with effective use of the CWS/CMS system.

After attending this training, successful participants will understand:

Pre-petition investigation
How to review child protective services histories
Petition generation and writing
CWS/CMS and court functions

Participants will strengthen their ability to use CWS/CMS to develop solid and defendable petitions for court.

Nyal Homsher

Nyal Homsher, M.S., has 15 years of experience as a social worker and supervisor. His work has focused primarily on emergency response, juvenile law and the development and testing of the CWS/CMS application. Nyal has trained help desk staff and been the county administrator for CWS/CMS in two California counties. He has also been one of the primary trainers for the Northern Training Lab Consortium since 2001.
