Supporting and Accommodating People with Disabilities – Ensuring Disability Compliance

As a result of this workshop, participants will obtain knowledge and tools to help them meet the needs of adult applicants and recipients with disabilities, and gain a greater understanding of services and resources that will best support their engagement with the welfare participant.

Participants will learn about:

  • The disability laws in order to ensure the prohibition of discrimination against individuals with disabilities
  • Prejudices associated with individuals with physical, mental and learning disabilities
  • Sensory and perceptual needs of individuals with disabilities
  • A work-related knowledge of how to respond to an employee’s request for reasonable accommodation and/or an applicant or recipient’s request for programmatic accessibility (structural or program access)
  • Review of the people-first or person-first language (PFL) guidelines
  • Guidelines on how to interview an individual with disability

Fee Details: The enrollment fee for this 1-day class is $255.00 per participant or .06 training units for those utilizing their county contract. This fee includes quality instruction from subject-matter expert(s), research-based curricula and all digital course materials.

Training Format: This program will be offered via remote learning using Zoom. Login information will be provided after your enrollment is processed.
