SOP Beyond the Tools - Deepening the Practice
Required Course Prerequisites: Must have completed Foundation SOP overview.
Course Overview
When it comes to Safety Organized Practice (SOP), it’s not just about using the tools—it’s about how we use them. This course takes a deep dive into the foundational elements of SOP, helping participants move beyond surface-level application and toward embodying the principles that bring SOP tools to life.
Who Should Attend?
This course is open to child welfare social workers, supervisors, managers, policymakers and anyone else interested in applying a deeper understanding of SOP to improve child welfare case management services. We warmly invite those who are ready to deepen their individual or agency-level SOP implementation and transcend traditional systems barriers to join in a collaborative, experience-driven conversation.
What Will I Learn in This Training?
After attending, participants will be able to:
- Identify new ideas to elevate SOP practice to meet the needs of individuals, families and communities impacted by trauma.
- Identify ways to navigate cultural barriers while lifting up cultural strengths.
- Critically assess current use of SOP on an individual and/or agency level and build on the manner in which SOP tools are implemented.
- Apply SOP tools in ways that further strengthen aspects of addressing culture, trauma and empowering families in the system.
- Value the need to deepen, both behaviorally and philosophically, our understanding and use of SOP tools in order to truly become trauma-informed and culturally humble in how the tools are applied.
