SDM: Reunification and In-Home Risk Assessment (Virtual)

Structured Decision Making (SDM) is a tool designed to help child welfare workers assess risk and safety concerns in families and inform decisions regarding the appropriate level of service and intervention. This training will help participants gain an understanding of performing Family Reunification and Maintenance assessments utilizing the web-based SDM system.

After attending this training, participants will be able to:

Tomas Loarca, M.S.W., has worked as a California child welfare social worker for 10 years. His experience spanned from front-end prevention to adoptions/permanency. Loarca worked to build collaborative relationships with community organizations that resulted in a reduction of local child welfare intervention. Loarca has been an instructor for UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education for over 5 years. He specializes in CWS/CMS, SDM, SafeMeasures, CANS, SOP, team facilitation and other child welfare subject areas.
