A Safety Organized Approach to Intimate Partner Violence for Leaders

This three-day training equips leaders with the tools to support child welfare staff in addressing intimate partner violence (IPV) using a safety-organized, survivor-centered lens. Participants will explore how IPV—particularly patterns of coercive control—impacts family functioning and child safety. The training blends Structured Decision Making (SDM) Version 3.5 and Safety Organized Practice (SOP) to move beyond a “failure to protect” mindset, emphasizing practical strategies for partnering with survivors, engaging children, and holding perpetrators accountable. Leaders will experience a streamlined version of the full course tailored for supervisors and frontline staff. The course builds leadership capacity to improve case management services and advance safety, stability and well-being for children and families.
