The Role of APS in the Conservatorship Process eLearning

When all other options for care and treatment have been exhausted, a referral for conservatorship may be the best solution to ensure an older or dependent adult's safety and well-being. The conservatorship process is complex, often misunderstood and can be daunting for everyone involved: the APS professional, the individual of concern, the family and the public guardian investigator.

This course provides an overview of the decision-making process in determining whether conservatorship is appropriate. It defines conservatorship, outlines its various types and explores the roles of APS professionals and public guardians in making referrals and collaborating on shared cases.
