April 2025: Connection & Purpose: Transforming Adolescent Substance Use Outcomes

Adolescence is a period of curiosity, identity formation, and sometimes risky behavior—including substance use. Research shows that 82% of adolescents hesitate to confide in a trusted adult due to fears of judgment, punitive action or having their feelings dismissed. Rather than simply acknowledging their behaviors, we must validate their emotions to foster trust and open dialogue.

In this engaging, solution-focused webinar, peer partners will examine the critical roles of connection, healthy attachment and purpose in reducing adolescent substance use. Studies indicate that even when drugs are accessible, youth who enjoy strong relationships and a clear sense of personal values are significantly less likely to engage in sustained substance use.
