Long Term Care and Home and Community Alternatives in Medi-Cal

Long-term care cases involve some of the most complex issues in Medi-Cal eligibility. This workshop offers participants practice in budgeting and property evaluations for these difficult cases. As a result of this workshop, participants will learn how to determine eligibility for long-term care cases, establish property eligibility and correctly compute budgets with allocations to the at-home spouse and other family members.

Topics include:

  • Learning terms used in the processing of Long-Term Care cases
  • Exploring the level of care services provided in institutionalized settings
  • Discussing property types common to the Long-Term Care beneficiaries and rules for treatment of transfer and retained property
  • Learning principles for calculating the amount needed for maintenance of Long-Term Care beneficiaries
  • Reviewing applicable income regulations for the determination of share of cost in Long-Term Care Medi-Cal cases
  • Examining case examples for three separate types of family configuration

Fee Details: The program enrollment fee is .06 training unit per person for those utilizing their county contract. If not using a county contract, the fee is $255.00 per person. The fee for a 1-day class, and it includes soft copy materials.

Training Format: This program will be offered via remote learning using Zoom. Login information will be provided after your enrollment is processed.

Those paying by check or with credit card, please have payment to us no later than two weeks prior to start of class.

To be officially dropped from the class, please notify us at least 10 business days prior to the training start date to drop a class and cancel the billing, or request a refund of fees paid, less a $30 processing fee (no exceptions).
