How To Talk About Elder Abuse (eLearning)

The language used by Adult Protective Services professionals plays a powerful role in shaping public perceptions of elder abuse. This course introduces a strategic communication approach developed by the National Center on Elder Abuse and the FrameWorks Institute. Participants will explore current public perceptions, learn how to shift the narrative to one that empowers older adults, and discover tools for more effective communication with peers, clients and the broader community.

After attending this training, participants will be able to:

• Describe the goals and objectives of the Reframing Elder Abuse Project
• Understand current perceptions of elder abuse
• Practice a new communication strategy on elder abuse
• Identify resources to support themselves and their staff in this work

NOTE: This course is self-paced and can be started and completed anytime between July 1 and June 30.
