Fiscal Essentials for Public Assistance Programs
This two-day professional development course provides a comprehensive overview of the fiscal structures underpinning public assistance and human services programs. Designed for both program and fiscal staff, the course enhances participants’ understanding of financial responsibilities and equips them with practical tools to navigate complex funding environments.
Through interactive lectures, group discussions, and hands-on exercises, participants will explore key topics including federal and state budget processes, funding streams, time studies, claiming procedures, and county budgeting. Emphasis will be placed on how fiscal practices directly influence program outcomes and agency performance.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
• Describe how public assistance and human services programs are funded and how funding impacts agency operations.
• Explain the role and significance of time studies in cost allocation and claiming.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of fiscal processes, including budgeting and funding streams.
• Apply fiscal concepts to support strategic planning and improve financial outcomes within their agency.`

Fee Details: The program enrollment fee is 0.12 training unit per person for those utilizing their county contract. If not using a county contract, the fee is $510.00 per person. The fee for this 2-day program includes soft copy materials. The 2-day program will be taught in four half-days in the AM.
Training Format: This program will be offered via remote learning using Zoom. Login information will be provided after your enrollment is processed.

Those paying by check or with credit card, please have payment to us at your earliest convenience.
To be officially dropped from the class, please notify us at least 10 business days prior to the training start date to drop a class and cancel the billing, or request a refund of fees paid, less than a $30 processing fee (no exceptions). Substitutions can be made with 48-hour minimum notice prior to the training start date. A 48-hour notice is needed to get all updated information processed (no exceptions).
