Course Overview
Adult Protective Services professionals often face complex ethical dilemmas during the course of their work. This training introduces the seven ethical principles guiding APS practice and explores how these principles can sometimes conflict. Participants will also examine how implicit bias, intersectionality and cultural humility influence ethical decision-making.

What will I learn in this training?
After attending this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify major APS ethical principles and practice considerations for case work

  • Recognize ethical dilemmas in practice

  • List factors that influence ethical decision-making

  • Explain how the concepts of implicit bias, intersectionality and cultural humility affect ethical decision-making

  • Apply a framework for ethical, culturally responsive decision-making using a case study
