CSFR Quality Assurance (In-person Training)

Target Audience:  Quality Assurance staff across California.

Pre-requisite:  Registrants must meet the following requirements prior to training:

  1. Be certified as a case reviewer and have successfully passed the test from the Round 4 CFSR 4-day training and/or completed Round 4 Refresher Training if certified in Round 3. 
  2. Complete the QA training modules on the Round 4 E-Learning Academy prior to attending this training.

Participants must bring their Round 4 CFSR Case Review binder to the training with the most up-to-date materials. Contact the Case Review Inbox (cwscasereviews@dss.ca.gov) with any questions about updated materials. 

How to complete the QA Training Module on the Round 4 E-Learning Academy:

Step 1:  Participants should have access to the E-Learning Academy from the four-day training. 
Step 2:  Go to https://www.cfsrportal.acf.hhs.gov/ and log into the Child and Family Services Reviews (CFSR) Information Portal. 
Step 3:  Go to E-Learning Academy --> Round 4 E-Learning Academy --> OSRI Quality Assurance. Participants will complete:

  • QA Overview Module
    • Video: QA Overall Video
  • QA Staff Module
    • Video 1: Stages of QA
    • Video 2: Types of Errors
    • Video 3: Writing Effective QA Notes and Returning the Case
    • Samantha Brower QA Mock Case
    • Tony Morris Mock Case
    • Jessica Hillerman QA Mock Case
    • Nathan Salter QA Mock Case
    • QA Staff Quiz
    • QA Staff Evaluation
    • QA Staff Certificate

Note: These modules include four mock cases, so please plan your time accordingly.

Step 4:  After completing the QA Overview and QA Staff modules, a certificate of completion for the QA Staff module will be available for download.

Please note: All required modules must be completed for the certificate to generate.

Step 5: Send the downloaded certificates to the CDSS (cwscasereviews@dss.ca.gov) before registration deadline.

Goals of Training
You will learn the operational functions of the case review unit, such as:

  1. The QA’s role in the process of completing case reviews from start to finish timely.
  2. How to be a coach and coaching activities that you can use with your team.
  3. Describe and complete the process of processing quality inquires.
  4. Describe the OMS procedures for gathering data for the CQI process.
