CalFresh and CFAP Program Non-Citizen Eligibility

This professional development workshop provides a comprehensive overview of eligibility criteria for legal non-citizens seeking food assistance through federal and state programs. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the distinctions between CalFresh (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - SNAP) and the California Food Assistance Program (CFAP), with a focus on legal requirements and policy updates.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Define key terms related to legal non-citizen eligibility for food assistance programs, including "qualified non-citizen" and "sponsored non-citizen."
2. Identify the eligibility criteria for legal non-citizens under federal CalFresh (SNAP) and the California Food Assistance Program (CFAP).
3. Apply appropriate verification procedures and documentation requirements for determining eligibility.
4. Analyze the impact of recent legislative changes, including HR 1, on food assistance eligibility for non-citizens.
5. Distinguish between federal and state-funded food assistance programs and their respective eligibility requirements.
6. Evaluate case scenarios to determine eligibility and compliance with current policy and procedural guidelines.

Fee Details: The enrollment fee for this ½ -day class is $127.50 per participant or .03 training units for those utilizing their county contract. This fee includes quality instruction from subject-matter expert(s), research-based curricula and all digital course materials.

Training Format: This program will be offered via remote learning using Zoom. Login information will be provided after your enrollment is processed.
