Basics for Caseworkers: QI Assessment Case Planning and Court Reports (Self-Paced)

These training sessions will provide an introductory overview of the role of the Qualified Individual (QI) as part of the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) Part IV requirements in California. They cover the basics of QI assessment and reporting, case planning, and court reports. They also cover topics including permanency, home-based  care, short-term residential therapeutic program (STRTP), new case planning documentation requirements for youth placed within an STRTP, changes to the court report and court determinations, and discharge planning and family-based aftercare supports for at least six months post-discharge for all youth exiting an STRTP to home-based care.

This training has four goals for participants:

  1. Understand the purpose and role of the QI, as well as intersection with the Child and Family Team and the Interagency Placement Committee
  2. Understand how and when to request a Qualified Individual assessment
  3. Understand case planning and court report requirements
  4. Understand how to plan for transition and aftercare services

These are recordings from live-web sessions beginning September 2021. They were facilitated by UC Davis with support from the California Department of Social Services and the California Department of Health Care Services. After registering, you will be given access to watch the training online. This will help you meet requirements for QI Certification.
