APS VR Simulation Training - Social Isolation and Alzheimer's

Social isolation is well-researched as a significant factor that drives both the onset and the progression of Alzheimer's-type dementia through alterations in the brain's structure and changing social interaction. This immersive virtual experience offers learners insight into each condition separately, as well as how they interact.

  • Acknowledge that reducing senior social isolation takes the effort of both individuals and adequate networks/systems of social support.
  • Be able to describe the primary ways that relationships, services and interventions can help mitigate the effects of elderly social isolation.
  • Identify ways that Alzheimer's disease affects communication in the brain.
