Anti-Racist Practice: Foundational Course for Wraparound

As system of care professionals, we have the ethical duty to demonstrate cultural humility and become actively anti-racist in our work to best serve vulnerable children, youth and families. 

This course provides a foundation of historical and current events and definitions related to racism. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of the nature of, causes and costs of present-day racism, racial discrimination and racial inequity; how these impact children and families involved in the child welfare system, mental or behavioral changes and how to integrate these concepts into providing quality services.

  • Define and review terminology related to racism
  • Examine historical and current events to understand how racism operates today
  • Identify resources to support anti-racist practice
