What does it mean to resonate with someone? How do we go from the professional mind to the empathic mind in order to provide adequate service to clients?

While these questions would take more than one course to answer completely, this webinar offers unique insight utilizing an unconventional ally in our quest to connect: Hip-hop!

From the art of engagement to practice based evidence, we will explore how music influences the brain, emotional regulation, and the effects of trauma. We will also explore what it means to use hip-hop as a way to connect or as an intervention. Whether you were raised in hip-hop culture or know very little about the global phenomenon, you will find this session interesting and gain a new perspective on helping youth connect in their healing process.

Presenter:

Anthony Pineda, M.A., explores the intersection of education, mental health, technology and creativity for developing knowledge and growth within those he works with. Hip-hop is his passion, and he firmly believes in the power of knowledge and a growth mindset. After taking steps to ensure the formation of Creatrix Institute, Pineda spends his professional time in the fields of education and mental health providing programming that celebrates the hip-hop culture. His drive and passion for creating a new paradigm in education are unyielding, and he will continue his work until we create new pathways that see the value of cultural knowledge and technology for people in education.
