This webinar dives into how trauma affects brain development, more specifically how it leads to social, emotional, and cognitive impairments. It also highlights what can and should be done to mediate these issues. Some of the interventions mentioned in this webinar include: Acoustic Integrated Listening System, Somatosensory Movement/Play, Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback, etc. A number of images and charts are included in the webinar, providing visualization of data and working systems regarding mind and body connections.
Presenters:
Dr. Kate Messina has over 35 years of experience working with children and families affected by early childhood trauma. She is an invited lecturer and keynote speaker at numerous conferences throughout California on the impact of trauma on the developing brain. She is currently an Instructor with UC Davis Resource Center for Family-Focused Practice, and has been an adjunct professor at California State University, Sacramento, and the Wright Institute in Berkeley. Dr. Messina provides training on the Wisdom Path Way Reparative Parenting Approach. Dr. Messina currently serves as a consultant to CDSS with the ASIST program, lending her clinical expertise to ASIST counties seeking permanency for children still in congregate care.
