This webinar discussed two projects, first is the youth empowerment engagement project which is a partnership between Child and Family Policy Institute, California (CFPIC) and the California Department of Social Services. It aims to improve child welfare policies, programs, and practices by building capacity for youth engagement at the state and local level.

Presenters: 

Kelly Hood who is the director of the youth engagement project for over 5 years. Her previous experience includes working in Stanislaw and Yolo county child welfare as a social worker, child and family team meeting facilitator and most recently as emergency response social worker supervisor. 

Lauren Mendez is the youth Engagement Projects project associate for four years and was previously Stanislaus County’s yap ambassador for two years. Her experience includes working with children and teens in foster care who are homeless or in crisis with group homes and emergency shelters. Lauren is also a professional with live experience in the foster care system. She previously presented at the transitional age Youth Conference and Resource Family approval Conference.
