Understanding Race & Racism: The History of Protest

Understanding how social and historical movements aimed at promoting equity is necessary in guiding dialogue in our work and communities. This workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of concepts, history, and terminology needed to effectively engage in crucial conversations about race and racism. It will also provide tools and practical exercises to foster critical thinking and equip participants with skills to contribute to the ongoing dialogue of becoming active allies and advocating for justice in personal, professional, and community settings.

By the completion of this workshop, staff will be equipped with a foundational understanding of Civil Rights and its history of protest throughout the years. They will be able to connect history with modern era to advocate for justice in various areas that impact the communities, families, and children they serve.
