This workshop will provide an overview of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and the practices and supports that can be most helpful to support communication and personal independence. It will address the progression of autism from when it manifests in youth through adulthood and provide basic behavioral interventions that may be used when engaging both children and adults.
Topics include:
- Describing the characteristics of ASD
- Utilizing basic strategies for most effectively communicating with individual with ASD
- Providing additional resources to offer parents and caregivers
