Supporting Participant Job Retention

Many customers who move into the workforce continue to receive benefits because of low wages or part-time work status. Case management effectiveness is driven by determination of what customers and their families need in order to be successful at becoming self-sufficient and stable. This workshop will address ways Welfare to Work staff can support customers in finding and keeping their current job while seeking better employment. Participants will learn ways they can use their credibility with customers to support continued employment.

  • How to help customers see entry-level work as a stepping stone
  • Develop and recognize techniques to modeling workplace norms
  • Conveying information about support services
  • How to assist the customer through the job cycle process: looking for work, starting work, and maintaining the job
  • Addressing and overcoming barriers to continued employment
  •  Supporting customers who lose jobs in quickly renewing their job search
