Staff Development Specialist Certification Series

The goal of this three-day program is to provide a basis of preparation for new trainers in order to establish a consistent standard of training quality. The program provides trainers with the information they need to assess training needs, design effective training, deliver it and evaluate its effectiveness. Incorporated into the training are the tenets of adult learning theory, transfer of learning technique, logistics and facilitation skills. The three-day program culminates in team presentations that demonstrate learners’ grasp of the six disciplines, adult learning theory and tenets of human learning.

This program will provide the practical skills and techniques to enhance the effectiveness of the participant’s training design and delivery. Using the Planning Wheel of the first of the six Disciplines training model, participants will be able to plan courses during conception, development and execution in a way that will facilitate the learning process.

After completing this program, participants will be better able to:

  • Identify personal strengths as a trainer
  • Apply the tenets of adult learning theory
  • Articulate the six disciplines of training
  • Define the specific need for training and how it will address an organizational issue
