Self & Social Management of Conflict

Conflicts can occur when two or more people care about something––something they feel they can’t get or do, or that they can’t give. This course explores the various dynamics associated with conflict and presents strategies and models for successfully addressing conflict. We will explore the topics of communication, accountability, and managing difficult situations by being assertive. Through research-based models and group discussions, learners will become better equipped with strategies and tools to successfully manage conflict and find meaningful resolutions.

After attending this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify sources and dynamics of conflict
  • Recognize the bridge between Emotional Intelligence competencies and managing ourselves and others during conflict
  • Self-assess default conflict resolution style on TKI tool
  • Practice the art of assertiveness
  • Collaborate with peers to produce team task responses
  • Reflect on the benefits of choosing an assertive approach
