Self-Care and Secondary Trauma for Probation

Working with youth and families that have experienced trauma can have an adverse effect on probation officers. Secondary Trauma is caused by hearing about violence, child abuse and neglect and dangerous situations. Probation officers and supervisors are at risk of developing secondary trauma from their repeated exposure to hearing about traumatic events. This class will provide participants with information and guidance necessary to build resilience and create a self-care plan.
