Enhancing Well-Being: Managing Secondary Traumatic Stress and Burnout

This interactive and innovative training will equip child welfare professionals with the tools to maximize psychosocial adaptability and resilience to minimize the negative impacts of the exposure to tragedy, crisis, pain and suffering related to their work. Through facilitated discussion, participants will have an opportunity to self-assess their levels of empathy, resilience, well-being and self-care; learn about the latest neuroscience research in trauma, burnout and well-being; and share with and hear insights from their colleagues.

After attending this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify symptoms and signs of secondary trauma and burnout
  • Identify their own personal risk and protective factors to assist in prevention and management of secondary trauma and burnout symptomatology
  • Identify strategies to develop a stress resilient mindset
  • Build a personalized well-being toolbox from best practice strategies
