SDM for Intake

This interactive training will engage participants in a dialogue about the consistent and accurate completion of the SDM Hotline Assessment tool. It will allow for practice in reviewing and understanding definitions, such as household and caregiver, application of overrides, historical information, and consensus building when making complex decisions related to child safety.

After attending this training, participants will be able to:

  • Gain a better understanding of SDM Hotline Assessment definitions
  • Understand the correlation of good interviewing practices and application of the rigorous assessment information
  • Safely apply "overrides" and the involved stakes
  • Promote consensus among intake social workers, supervisors and others involved in the consultation process of reviewing referrals prior to assignment or Evaluate Out

This training is specifically geared toward child welfare intake staff and supervisors. Participants will gain in-depth knowledge and skills that will lead to rigorous and collaborative decision-making for hotline assessments.
