Property Basics 101 for Conservators: A Learning Collaborative

The is a two-part learning collaborative on conservatorship estate management.

Part 1 will provide an overview of conservatorship estate management and the responsibilities of the conservator of estate. The course will provide an overview of responsibilities as it pertains to asset management including, how to identify and redirect income; establish and maintain benefits; search for assets and marshal assets both virtually and from onsite property searches; awareness of safety concerns when conducting property searches; how to report assets to the court through the inventory and appraisal process; liquidation of assets; and court accountings.

Part 2 will provide a more in-depth examination of the topics covered in Part 2.

By the completion of this 2-part training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the conservator’s job roles, tasks and responsibilities
  • Use the concepts to think through and solve problems
  • Generalize the concepts to a variety of different situations
