Neuroscience Series for Leaders: Neuroscience of Leadership, Engagement and Connection

For child welfare leaders to effectively support both the workforce and families faced with challenging circumstances, it is crucial that they understand the biological underpinnings of why change can activate resistance, as well as brain-friendly strategies for improving decision making and creative thinking. This interactive science-backed workshop draws on the underlying brain systems behind engagement, innovation, and decision making. Participants will learn a brain-based framework for increasing engagement along with strategies for improving decision making and creative problem solving.
 

After attending this training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe what drives human behavior based on discoveries in modern neuroscience
  • Apply a brain-based framework for increasing engagement at the individual, team and organizational levels within child welfare contexts
  • Define non-conscious bias and its influence on quality decision making
  • Apply strategies for mitigating non-conscious bias to improve decision making
  • Utilize neuroscience-based techniques designed to elevate creativity


Several adult learning modalities consisting of a mix of lecture/presentation, video, practice exercises, small group activities, and context-driven discussion will be utilized to deepen levels of learner engagement and relevancy to improving individual, team and organizational performance.
