Multi–Cultural Aspects of Substance Abuse

This workshop helps participants understand the cultural implications of treating substance abuse. It covers the cultural norms, implications and problems related to substance abuse among Asian Americans, African Americans, Latinos and Native Americans.

Topics Include:
  • Increase understandings of treatment approaches and strategies
  • Build awareness of the client's approach to therapy
  • Be better prepared to work with ethnic populations
  • Understand how to discuss abuse and its problems in the client's terms and increase their effectiveness with diverse populations
