Lobby Safety and Substance Abuse workshop will cover the essentials to working with confused, frustrated and/or hostile clients. Participants will understand de-escalation techniques. The workshop will review the process of assessing and prioritizing client needs for proper next steps. The workshop includes threat recognition and situational awareness. Participants will have the opportunity to identify some of the most common used drugs and their physical effects.
Topics include:
- Recognize triggers of confused, frustrated, hostile or blaming behaviors.
- Identify some of the most commonly used drugs and their potential physical effects.
- Understand the process of assessing and prioritizing client needs.
