Leveraging Financial Resources By Building Community Partnerships

This is a foundational and practical course intended to help leaders in Health and Human Services gain foundational knowledge about blended and braided funding. Participants will be able to identify opportunities and develop strategies to build stronger relationships, and maximize and leverage funding by partnering with other governmental entities serving the same client base. The goal is to strengthen the well-being of the local community and to support the fiscal health of the partner agencies.

Topics include:

  • Maximizing resources in your community by identifying partners in your region who serve the same populations and understanding their needs
  • Understanding and analyzing your funding limitations and opportunities, including identifying how you are spending local funding and where you have underspent allocations
  • Understanding the basics of federal fund requirements, and how to blend, braid and leverage funding
  • Developing a draft action plan for participant-chosen area of focus
  • Learning fundamentals of how to have a win-win-win negotiation
  • Identifying strategies for targeting a communication plan
  • Reviewing fundamentals of maintaining strong partner relationships
  • Planning ahead for how to adapt to changes, including developing a written plan, MOU’s, and a practical guide on how to work with your own agency and partners when changes are needed
